Natja Brunckhorst (33). On the Elsenbruecke in Friedrichshain in 2000.

Natja Brunckhorst is again in Berlin and fondly remembers the film's history.

Success can be a blessing or a curse, doors can open or they can slam shut. Natja Brunckhorst knows both sides. At 15 years of age she became famous as Christiane F. in the film " we children of zoo station" over night. It was the beginning of her career as an actor, and the end of her childhood.

Bowled over by the fame, she left Berlin, and moved to London. Today, 18 years later, the film is very difficult to find. The cinema will not re-release it. For approximately four years the actress operated as a film script authoress, and was celebrated as a co-authoress for Comedian Harmonists - a giant success. Now in Berlin her first own film script is being filmed. The film is called Pissed and Proud and is about an east/west romance in the Punk environment of 1982.

"The film is about much of my life", Natja says, "it is a mixture of real-life and fiction."

During a trip to east Berlin the 16 year old west Berliner Nele (Anna Bertheau) becomes acquainted with a group of punks. She falls in love with Captain(Antonio Wannek), an east Berliner. Natja had such an experience as a 14 year old.

" a few weeks later I was taken to a punk party in east Berlin without a visa. Really, it was the existing socialism that terminated the romance. The idea of the film script came, when I met that punk four years ago coincidentally. I became acquainted with East Germans as strong and sexy humans."

For two years Natja worked on the film script. She is choosing actors currently. The film will cost five million to make, and starts filming in spring 2001."Punk is the time of my youth."

natja as christiane f Natja is 33 years old, pretty, with a short crop and awake brown eyes. She remembers back to the role of the Christiane. Everywhere the film posters hung - dyed red hair, darken eye rings, heroin syringes. "It was hard being recognised everywhere I went."

At 16 she left school, and at 17 went to London. There were a few TV roles. Now she lives in Munich. "I love the citizens of Berlin, but it becomes too fast there and all too much."

For a while her partner was a man named Dominic Raacke. In 1991 they had a daughter, named Emma .Then a strange twist of fate: in 1994 Natja was diagnosed with leukaemia. She underwent chemotherapy and was afraid for months. Her relationship with Dominic was not strong enough to survive the cancer. "Nevertheless, I am glad that Dominic is the father, because he worries so much and takes responsibility."

What would be if their daughter was discovered for a film? "..there are so many other occupations. But if she wanted to do that, I could not prevent it. "
